Protecting Privacy Of Customer Information

Steps to Protecting Privacy of personal information.

For security purposes we should be extremely careful not to give out personal contact or financial information to anyone, without verifying they are the owner of the information requested. For example: someone who reports their credit card has been used fraudulently and wants the information of the person who used the card or people who indicate they are a customer, and need information from their account.

We should take steps to verify the identity of the requestor. (We need to know they are who they say they are). You can verify by asking them to provide complete and correct account information: Complete shipping address, correct name on account, correct phone number, correct email address, and correct payment information including last 4 of credit card and the expiration date.

Never ask a customer to provide complete credit card information via email.

Ask for a phone number so we can call them for details. This typically deters anyone who is attempting to gather information about someone else.
